Welcome!
This blog is dedicated to the new Maryland Bird Conservation Initiative (MD-BCI) and topics related to bird conservation and bird monitoring. The MD-BCI is a partnership between the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MD-DNR) and The Friends of Jug Bay (FoJB) to build a foundation for more effective, sustained bird conservation in the state. As the MD-BCI Coordinator, I am tasked with formulating and implementing the MD-BCI as an input to revision of the Maryland Wildlife Action Plan scheduled for completion by September 2015. To achieve this objective I will draw from the experiences and expertise of similar initiatives in other states, as well as seek input and recommendations from the dedicated people involved with ongoing efforts to conserve birds and their habitats throughout Maryland. The MD-BCI is housed at the Plummer House, a renovated farm house on the Parris Glendening Nature Preserve in Lothian, MD and part of the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary.
